After all, somebody has to point out the obvious!

A lot of new SPOT content in the pipeline

Now that the new Sports channel is finally available, the logical question is: what next? Recently Fossil seems to have leaked some information that may shed some light on upcoming new content.

It looks like future channels could include the following:

  • Current Traffic - speaks for itself.
  • Dining Guide - listings of nearby restaurants. That makes me wonder exactly how "nearby" - the watches don't seem to be able to pinpoint their location more precisely than the area of a broadcasting station. Or is there some more precise positioning going on behind the scenes?
  • Movie Finder - get movie listings for your metro area. I really want this channel. Like, now.
  • Daily Diversions - useless but fun stuff: horoscopes, lottery numbers, words and quotes of the day, and this day in history bits.

The Traffic channel probably won't initially be very useful where I live, but the Movie content is definitely something I want. And the Daily Diversions would be fun to have. The Dining Guide...well, I'm not sure how useful that will be. I guess it'll depend on the implementation.

Of course, nothing is know about the timeline of these releases. For all we know, it could be services to come over the next year. And questions still remain about how many channels the current crop of watches can even handle at the same time.
