A couple of days ago, I finally signed up on the MSN Direct site to get the new content to my watch. I chose to receive my horoscope and Peter's (heehee, so I'll be able to read his moods, just kidding), as well as the Daily Diversions.
The horoscope screens are animated! That's pretty cool. It is, by far, the most girley thing I have found on my watch. I like the little stars and moon so much that I'm actually mostly leaving my watch face on it during the day to “girlify” it a bit.
I also love the daily diversions. This is a really neat feature, especially for those of us who teach. There is a word of the day, and definition (mine was dilemma yesterday), a quote, and there was several “Today in History”. I say was, because as I'm clicking through my watch content I'm noticing that they are no longer there. Hmmm... I wonder what's going on with that?
Yesterday I used the Today in History with my students by taking one of the facts, writing it on the board, something about a queen that was beheaded, and left out the date. I gave my students 3 minutes to search the net and find the date for 5 bonus points. They loved it!
I think the fact that I'm not having new data for today has a lot to with the fact that our high school is pretty much a bunker. Absolutely no windows pretty much, and unless I go outside or in the main lobby area, I never receive messages or get content. Grrr.
Peter mentioned in a post a while back that wouldn't it be great if there some type of software developed for the tablet that would allow teachers to use it for seating charts. I can visualise this as being a really cool idea, and I would take it one step further...Make it part of a grading program. One where the teacher could take attendance, input grades, and have a seating chart. That way, the teacher could input the list of students names, then click on a "seating chart" button, and it would put the students names onto all of the little desks or tables... Maybe then you could have possible sort features where you could click a button, and then it would rearrange the students them by alpha (first or last name), or current average (to get the higher achieving students to be more spread out), or anything.
