Wow. It's been a long time since I've written hasn't it? It's almost like finding a diary/journal that you might have written years ago, and then reading your entries and feeling a disconnect between the way you are now, and the way you were then.

I was so optimistic at the beginning of the year! The concerns I had then are just not the same now. But I guess that that is the way of things.

Right now a lot of things are going on. I'm facing the end of my 1 year, temporary contract at the high school where I teach. Although I've had a fabulous year, the official word on the street is that my predecessor is coming back. While I knew that was a strong possibility, it still makes things somewhat difficult. Really for three main reasons: I love my school, I love my students, and I mostly like my colleagues. (Hey, everything can't be perfect, right?). So, I've begun the job hunt. Rumor is that if I'm going to be pink-slipped (did you know that it really isn't a "pink" piece of paper? Hmmm. I wonder why they call it that then? But I digress.) it will be done by May 14. I've decided to think as if I'm being canned, and then, if something changes, I can be pleasantly surprised.
